March 2020, the world goes into a lockdown due to the coronavirus outbreak. my peers and i are sent home to complete our final major projects, away from the studio, the resources and tutors for support and most importantly - away from each-other to discuss ideas, the future and our career goals.

this is how the idea for the offcut podcast was born.

Project timeline:

April 2020 - January 2021

Roles:

Graphic & motion designer
A project which started as an idea in our uni house turned into an eight-episode podcast which spanned across the whole year in lockdown across 2020. I spoke with friends and peers across various subjects in my university, chatting about how they are adapting to study in lockdown, how their love for their craft started, developed and where they see their career going as they look to hunt down their first design role.

The episodes were around an hour long, which were directed, hosted, edited and uploaded myself on different listening platforms.

I created an instagram page where i was contacted on a number of occasions from other creatives explaining how reassuring it was that other students were feeling similar emotions, facing challenges and were anxious for their future.

The aim of the project was to keep me busy, stay in touch with people and bring some light into what was a dark period for many of us going into the summer of 2020.

Some episodes are still live on youtube, Spotify and apple music.

Episode one - Nas Shah

Episode two - josh earles

Episode three - Asia Mcneilly

Episode four - Louis Foligno
